Everyone has been waiting for my announcement of who my co-author for the upcoming Hot Dog Cookbook will be.  Well, the wait is over.  Meet Toddster the Hot Doggster

Todd is one of the greatest hot dog lovers I've ever met!

He has hot dog socks.

Hot Dog Trucks

Hot Dog Scooby

And even Hot Dog Pens

And these are just a few of the items in his collection.

How did we meet?  Toddster the Hot Doggster wanted to know when I planned to write a cookbook about hot dogs.   I had no plans but then ask myself - 'Why not?'  There are cookbooks about everything else.  So I told Toddster the Hot Doggster that if he was willing to join me in this venture we would create a cookbook highlighting an individual hot dog as well as a hot dog restaurant for each state in the US.  Thats all it took to get his excitement boiling and our plans in motion.

So, what does Toddster the Hot Doggster do when not collection hot dog items?  Read on and you'll find out.

Cinnamon and Honey

Do these work?  I have no idea but I can't see where they can hurt either.  Just might be worth trying a few.

Cures most diseases It is found that a mixture of honey and Cinnamon cures most diseases. Honey is produced in most of the countries of the world. Scientists of today also accept honey as a 'Ram Ban' (very effective) medicine for all kinds of diseases. Honey can be used without side effects for any kind of diseases. Today's science says that even though honey is sweet, when it is taken in the right dosage as a medicine, it does not harm even diabetic patients. Weekly World News, a magazine in Canada, in its issue dated 17 January,1995 has given the following list of diseases that can be cured by honey and cinnamon, as researched by western scientists:

HEART DISEASES:
Make a paste of honey and cinnamon powder, apply it on bread instead of jelly and jam and eat it regularly for breakfast. It reduces the cholesterol in the arteries and saves the patient from heart attack. Also, those who have already had an attack, when they do this process daily, they are kept miles away from the next attack. Regular use of the above process relieves loss of breath and strengthens the heart beat.

In America and Canada, various nursing homes have treated patients successfully and have found that as one ages the arteries and veins lose their flexibility and get clogged; honey and cinnamon revitalize the arteries and the veins.

ARTHRITIS:
Arthritis patients may take daily (morning and night) one cup of hot water with two tablespoons of honey and one small teaspoon of cinnamon powder. When taken regularly even chronic arthritis can be cured. In a recent research conducted at the Copenhagen University, it was found that when the doctors treated their patients with a mixture of one tablespoon Honey and half teaspoon Cinnamon powder before breakfast, they found that within a week (out of the 200 people so treated) practically 73 patients were totally relieved of pain -- and within a month, most all the patients who could not walk or move around because of arthritis now started walking without pain.

BLADDER INFECTIONS:
Take two tablespoons of cinnamon powder and one teaspoon of honey in a glass of lukewarm water and drink it. It destroys the germs in the bladder.

CHOLESTEROL:
Two tablespoons of honey and three teaspoons of Cinnamon Powder mixed in 16 ounces of tea water given to a cholesterol patient was found to reduce the level of cholesterol in the blood by 10 percent within two hours. As mentioned for arthritic patients, when taken three times a day, any chronic cholesterol is cured. According to information received in the said Journal, pure honey taken with food daily relieves complaints of cholesterol.

COLDS:
Those suffering from common or severe colds should take one tablespoon lukewarm honey with 1/4 spoon cinnamon powder daily for three days. This process will cure most chronic cough, cold, and, clear the sinuses.

UPSET STOMACH:
Honey taken with cinnamon powder cures stomach ache and also clears stomach ulcers from its root.

GAS:
According to the studies done in India and Japan, it is revealed that when Honey is taken with cinnamon powder the stomach is relieved of gas.

IMMUNE SYSTEM:
Daily use of honey and cinnamon powder strengthens the immune system and protects the body from bacterial and viral attacks. Scientists have found that honey has various vitamins and iron in large amounts. Constant use of Honey strengthens the white blood corpuscles (where DNA is contained) to fight bacterial and viral diseases.

INDIGESTION:
Cinnamon powder sprinkled on two tablespoons of honey taken before food is eaten relieves acidity and digests the heaviest of meals.

INFLUENZA:
A scientist in Spain has proved that honey contains a natural 'Ingredient' which kills the influenza germs and saves the patient from flu.

LONGEVITY:
Tea made with honey and cinnamon powder, when taken regularly, arrests the ravages of old age. Use four teaspoons of honey, one teaspoon of cinnamon powder, and three cups of water and boil to make a tea. Drink 1/4 cup, three to four times a day. It keeps the skin fresh and soft and arrests old age. Life spans increase and even a 100 year old will start performing the chores of a 20-year-old.

RASPY OR SORE THROAT:
When throat has a tickle or is raspy, take one tablespoon of honey and sip until gone. Repeat every three hours until throat is without symptoms.

PIMPLES:
Three tablespoons of honey and one teaspoon of cinnamon powder paste. Apply this paste on the pimples before sleeping and wash it off the next morning with warm water. When done daily for two weeks, it removes all pimples from the root.

SKIN INFECTIONS:
Applying honey and cinnamon powder in equal parts on the affected parts cures eczema, ringworm and all types of skin infections.

WEIGHT LOSS:
Daily in the morning one half hour before breakfast and on an empty stomach, and at night before sleeping, drink honey and cinnamon powder boiled in one cup of water. When taken regularly, it reduces the weight of even the most obese person. Also, drinking this mixture regularly does not allow the fat to accumulate in the body even though the person may eat a high calorie diet.

CANCER:
Recent research in Japan and Australia has revealed that advanced cancer of the stomach and bones have been cured successfully. Patients suffering from these kinds of cancer should daily take one tablespoon of honey with one teaspoon of cinnamon powder three times a day for one month.

FATIGUE:
Recent studies have shown that the sugar content of honey is more helpful rather than being detrimental to the strength of the body. Senior citizens who take honey and cinnamon powder in equal parts are more alert and flexible. Dr. Milton, who has done research, says that a half tablespoon of honey taken in a glass of water and sprinkled with cinnamon powder, even when the vitality of the body starts to decrease, when taken daily after brushing and in the afternoon at about 3:00 P.M., the vitality of the body increases within a week.

BAD BREATH:
People of South America, gargle with one teaspoon of honey and cinnamon powder mixed in hot water first thing in the morning so their breath stays fresh throughout the day.

HEARING LOSS:
Daily morning and night honey and cinnamon powder, taken in equal parts restores hearing. Remember when we were kids? We had toast with real butter and cinnamon sprinkled on

Hot Chocolate Balls

This is a Pinterest recipe that I couldn't pass up.  The original recipe is called Hot Chocolate on a Stick.  Mine didn't quite come out that way.

2 lbs. melted chocolate (real chocolate with high content of cocoa butter)
2 cups sifted powdered sugar
1 cup sifted unsweetened cocoa powder

I melted my chocolate in the microwave.  The recipe directions melt it over a double boiler.  (Might be one of my mistakes.)  Mix cocoa powder and powdered sugar into melted chocolate.   I used dark chocolate cocoa powder.  (Might have been another mistake.)  The original recipe had you pour the mixture into a zip lock bag with a small hole cut in the corner so you could squirt it into a mold or mini muffin tins.  Mine wasn't squirtable but thick.  This is what I ended up doing.  Using my hands I shaped 1" balls and rolled some of them in cinnamon sugar and some in peppermint sugar.  Some I left plain.  For appearance as well as use, I put each ball on a plastic form, wrapped it with plastic wrap and tied it with a pretty ribbon.  I think they turned out quite pretty.  To use you simply heat an 8 oz. cup of milk, crumble your Hot Chocolate Ball into your milk, stir and enjoy.  It really is quite good!

These are good to add to gift baskets with a simple little card telling the user how to turn their Hot Chocolate Ball into the real thing.

Cheese Cookies and Sausage Balls

This recipe will make both Cheese Cookies and Sausage Balls simply by adding one additional ingredient saving you time and clean-up.

Cheese Cookies

2 cups flour
3 cups shredded cheese
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, melted
4 cups Rice Krispies

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  In a large bowl mix flour and cheese.  Using your hands add butter and then rice krispies.  Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.  Shape 1/2 of the mixture into walnut size balls.  Press flat.  Bake 10-12 minutes.  Makes about 2 dozen

Sausage Balls

1 lb. lean sausage
1 cup flour

To the remaining mixture, using your hands, mix in sausage and flour.  Roll into walnut size balls.  Bake 12-15 minutes.  makes about 2 dozen

Comments:  The cheese cookies will have a crispy crunch from the rice krispies.  The sausage balls will have a slight crunch but not quite as much as the cookies.  I use a Mexican cheese blend which also adds a unique flavor to the cookies.  You can use any cheese or cheese blend that you might like.  These are perfect for the holidays and entertaining or just plain old eating.    These are delicious!

Peanut Butter Fudge and Tara’s Candy. Just wait until you read these recipes. Cookies are next followed by Cobblers and Dumplings, which I am going to leave to the reader to learn more about. Round Steak Sandwiches

We all know how dry and tough round steak can be even if cut correctly.  I finally found a way to tenderize, moisten and flavor to make some really great sandwiches.  My Round Steak Sandwiches has gone to my manuscript file for Think With Your Taste Buds - Beef that comes out this winter.  This one will be perfect for those game day guys and so easy to make.  Until then, check out Think With Your Taste Buds - Desserts.

Slow Cooker Cube Steak

Yet another recipe has gone into the manuscript file for Think With Your Taste Buds - Beef.  I came up with this one when I found cube steak on sale and didn't want to cook it the usual way...batter, fry, serve immediately.  I wanted something I could actually cook now and serve later.  This worked out perfectly.  So make a note to look for this dish when Think With Your Taste Buds - Beef comes out this winter.  Until then, don't forget to order your copy of Think With Your Taste Buds - Desserts.

Pineapple Salad

What do you do with left over crushed pineapple?  This is what I do.

When a recipe calls for a small can of crushed pineapple I always use a large, taking out what the recipe calls for, then using the remaining to make a Pineapple Salad.  I add whatever I happen to have on hand such as coconut, nuts, cherries, marshmallows, etc.  Then I add just enough mayo to make it creamy.  This makes not only a pretty dish but also the perfect dessert that isn't too sweet nor too heavy.  Just use your imagination and 'Think With Your Taste Buds.'

Cream Sauce Spaghetti

The idea for this dish came from a chicken recipe.  I changed several of the ingredients to compliment the beef instead of the chicken and came up with my Cream Sauce Spaghetti.  It is so good but it's also been added to the manuscript fine for Think With Your Taste Buds - Beef which will be coming out this winter.  Make a note to check this dish out when you order your copy.  In the meantime don't forget to get your copy of Think With Your Taste Buds - Desserts.

Slow Cooker Spaghetti

This delicious dish has just been added to my manuscript file for Think With Your Taste Buds - Beef.  The only prep required is cooking the beef.  Everything is then placed in your slow cooker and cooked on low for 8 hrs.  Can't get any simplier than that.  And the flavor is wonderful!  Mark this recipe as one you must try when Think With Your Taste Buds - Beef comes out this winter.  In the meantime don't forget to get your copy of Think With Your Taste Buds - Desserts on Amazon or Barnes & Noble.

Good Seeds

Pumpkin – One serving has almost as much potassium as a small banana plus it has seven times the magnesium.  Potassium helps regulate your heartbeat and blood pressure.  Magnesium helps boost your immune system.  Delicious added to trail mix.

Black Sesame – These have more antioxidants than the pale ones, they have include a dose of iron and bone-building calcium.  They may even help prevent high blood pressure.  Black sesame seeds taste better toasted than their pale sisters.  Good sprinkled over stir-fry.

Flax – These seeds are a great source of lignans, a plant chemical that may lower your risk of heart disease.  Grinding the whole seed lets you absorb the nutrients more easily.  Great when ground and mixed in flour when making muffins, breads, cookies or just added to soups and casseroles.

Chia – Full of heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids.  Sprinkle them over oatmeal, granola and sliced fruit.

Sunflower – This is one of the richest sources of the disease-fighting antioxidant vitamin E.  Try these sprinkled over your salad.

Olive Oil

Olive Oil is high in monounsaturated fatty acids, which help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol and raise HDL (good) cholesterol.  It contains antioxidants such as flavonoids and polyphenols which have anti-aging and other disease-fighting properties.  Polyphenols also aid in lowering blood pressure.  So, how can you tell them apart?

Extra-Virgin Olive Oil – Produced from the first cold pressing of olives that have been picked the same day.  Best used for salads and as a condiment.  This is the most expensive and has the most pronounced flavor and fruitiness with a dark green coloring.

Pure (Regular) Olive Oil – Made with subsequent pressings of the olives with some additional filtering and refining.  It can be blended with extra-virgin olive oil to boost flavor lost in processing.  It’s less expensive and a good choice for cooking with a golden yellow coloring with green hues.

Light Olive Oil – This doesn’t mean it’s light in calories but light in color, fragrance and flavor.  It has been finely filtered and is suited for high-temperature frying due to its higher smoke point.  The coloring is pale yellow.

Nutella Banana Bread

This recipe can be found by going to Chef in Training  The only change I made was to use a tube/bundt pan instead of the suggested 8 x 1 loaf pan.  It's a bread well worth making.

Beef & Broccoli Stir Fry

Another delicious dish has just made it to the manuscript file for Think With Your Taste Buds - Beef.  As with all of my Taste Bud recipes, I had a recipe for Beef & Broccoli that I wanted to play with.  There were several ingredients that I didn't have on hand so I decided to Think With My Taste Buds and find substitutes.  Boy did I make some good changes.  This is one of the best Beef & Broccoli dishes I've ever made.  It's another one to put on your 'to try' list when Think With Your Taste Buds - Beef comes out this winter.

Coconut Almond Cream Cake

1 yellow cake mix
1/2 cup coconut
1/2 cup almond slivers
1 can coconut milk
1 can sweetened condensed milk
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Mix cake according to package directions.  In a bundt pan sprayed with non-stick spray sprinkle enough coconut and almonds to cover the bottom of the pan.  Pour remaining coconut and almonds into the cake batter.  Bake according to package timing.  Mix coconut milk and sweetened condensed milk.  Using a skewer or wooden spoon, poke holes into the cake while still warm and drizzle milk mixture over cake allowing to seep in.  Cool completely.

Comments:  You will have more than enough coconut milk/condensed milk.  I pour my leftover into 1/4 - 1/2 cup containers and freeze for later use.  This cake comes out moist and so good.  The combination of the coconut and almonds give it a wonderful texture.  The coconut I use is flaked not shredded and I find it in bulk at the health food store.  It has no added sugar so it only adds flavor and texture.

Ground Beef Pie

BOY is this a good one!  I decided to make it in 2 layers using a regular pie shell for the base.  It's not only good but it's also one that you can easily change to fit your own taste.  But...you'll have to wait until Think With Your Taste Buds - Beef comes out this winter.  As always, don't forget to order your copy of Think With Your Taste Buds - Desserts which can be ordered through Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Books A Million.

The High School Foodie

I want to encourage ALL of my food friends and those who aren't really foodies too, to visit a site called 'The High School Foodie.'  This site is owned and operated by a young man in Texas.  He's 14 years old and loves to cook and experiment with food.  Not that is impressing!  I can't say that I've ever known a 14 year old that loves cooking as much as this young man.  For that matter, I don't know ANY teenager that's this much into food.  Check out his site to see what this young man is cooking.

Broccoli Slaw

Broccoli
Carrot
Onion
Mayo
Sugar
Vinegar

In a food processor chop finely broccoli, carrot and onion.  Add mayo and equal parts of sugar and vinegar to taste.  I used 1 large broccoli head/crown, no stalk, 1 large carrot and 1/2 med. onion.  The mayo, sugar and vinegar are added to suite your own taste.  I ended up with enough slaw for 4.  This has to be one of the best slaws I've had in a long time.  I came up with this while wanting slaw to go with my fish but found I was out of cabbage and it was a real hit.  It's also good on hot dogs.
